Do you find commute cycling addictive?

Agreed, or in my case I have the little one on the child seat on the back, and SWMBO takes the car and any heavy items - the good bit is he LOVES going on the bike so I get the excuse that its really for his benifit not mine..

I was advised not to put the Hamax seat i used to have on the steel bike , on this alu frame one.

am currently looking for a trailgator or similar , but loath to buy one in case nipper hates it.

eldest daughter is fine on 2 wheels and has done my commute with me a few times at the weekend

Yes!!!

Funnily enough, I hate 'leisure cycling', having never got the point of riding around in big circle (I'd rather walk it if it's in a scenic area ), but whenever I've stopped commuter cycling, I really miss it and make every effort to find a reason to us the 'bike as a vehicle again a.s.a.p.

There's aspects I hate, like having to get up at 0430 instead of 0500, and the traffic on the return leg, but I'm hoping to step it up to five days out of five in the spring.

Thats a shame - could you not try hiring one from one of the hire places that are dotted around in touristy areas? Im thinking of Derbyshire where we go sometimes, and thats where I tried getting a child seat - was a better trial than buying. Is there anywhere like that near you?

(I think that the blackburn seat is rack mounted not seatpost mounted, but someone else out there may know....)

now I have the opposite issue.

If i walked or used Pubic transport ( sic) i would need to get up 45 minutes earlier and i would arrive later to the office.

going home would just be a nightmare

I don't mind a few days off - weekends have been very busy the last few weeks, so haven't been out at a weekend for a 'training run' for a couple of months. That said, I kill myself Monday to Friday. Also with the weather being bad, the 'rest' at the weekend has been good.

I'll have an enforced 'off the bike' period in two weeks time, following an operation, but I'll give it till day 3 (come out of hospital on day 2) before I hop onto the turbo - that's assuming I can open the garage one handed.

May have to use one of my 'geared' bikes to get to work at first, just so I don't have to honk it up the hills on a fixed 78 inch gear, oh and guess who's just fitted a bigger gear?

Hadmy bike in the LBS on a friday and Monday a couple off weeks ago and it was commented upon how grumpy i was on those days. But was back to normal on the Tuesday when the bike was fixed.
