Parading, martial arts, moments saved packing a dishwasher... a lot's being spent on development so where are the convincing use cases? Soon they'll have a horse that's faster and cheaper to run than a real horse, which is what we wanted when the car was born. We already have weapons so effective we dare not use them, and more Soft Machines than we know what to do with. You don't replace humans, you merely spread the cost of keeping them alive.
What I'm getting at is that superhuman capabilities may be welcome but a paradigm shift is usually the best way to exploit them. Evolution has made us so effective within the limitations of our form factor that it must be rare to have a genuine need that doesn't entail changing the form too. Could like-for-like humanoid development be built on an unworkable economic model?
