Do you like cycing in bad weather?

Just been looking at the Schwalbe Marathon Winter tyres for the hybrid,hated last winter and was off the bike for nearly 5 weeks.
Got a few funny looks as I got into work yesterday,soaked to the skin,only had my lightweight jacket with me which is definately not fully waterproof.
Then going home it was wind and rain,oh joy

pouring down again as I type,hopefully will have stopped before I set off at 12.45pm.

IT WAS BRILLIANT !!!!! The wind has dropped but the rain got heavier,well worth not being stuck in loads of traffic.Had my first "You've not cycled in that ! " comment today aswell

20mph winds, directly towards me, carrying rain horizontally.

Wearing warm waterproofs but it's still fairly warm weather (17 degrees).

Not fun.

I'll go out in all weather, but do I like bad weather? Hell, No!

Rain ain't too bad on its own, but wind/ice/snow I can live without. I do get some masochistic pleasure from being one of the few who are mad enough to go out when conditions are bad, but the one thing I really hate is the cold. I prefer scorching hot over freezing cold.
I'm more a bird of paradise than a cold fish

It really depends on how much I can show off. If I'm going out on my own then I'd rather not, although I'll go out if it's cold or snowy (while the snow is fresh it's fun, but I don't like it so much after)

If however I can get to work when the weather is really crap and be the first into the office- or better the second, so I have someone to witness the icicles stuck to my face- then I'm very enthusiastic.

I don't mind the wind at all (born and raised in the Cambridgeshire Fens where it is always windy), hills I struggle with for the same reason. Crossing the Forth Road Bridge today I had to pedal on the downhill section to keep moving, in calm conditions I am spinning the big ring, absolutely loved the challenge, the bridges website reckons 45mphgusts at the time I went across

Rain I'm not bothered about. Strong winds are a pain though!

and I also like being out in the rain especially when dressed correctly. I also like stuff like mountain climbing, fell walking, skiing or motorcycling in the rain/harsh weather. (I suspect it harks back to those boyhood days of dressing up as action man and playing out doors with my mates....especially when it snowed!!)

I enjoy the rain. Autmn's my favourite time of year, very dramatic and you can really sense that things are changing.
Rode home through a very close lightning storm once, absolutely loved it.

I am a bit of a wimp when it comes to cycling in bad weather.

But it is my bike I feel sorry for.

Two weeks ago I did 40 miles up the Trans Pennine Trail and my bike took a real battering from the wet and muddy conditions. It looked in a right sorry state at the end of it.

Although I spent two hours the following day giving it plenty of TLC and a damn good clean, I was still gutted that my pride and joy had taken a hammering.

I love my bike !!!!!!

I don't mind the rain, apart from having to clean my bike at the end of a journey but I find the wind just grinds me down. There's nowt worse than trying to cycle into a strong headwind and finding yourself slowing to a halt as you travel down hill.

On a side note, does anyone try to match the speed of a tail wind so that they get get the impression of being in still air? Call me easily pleased but I always find doing that fun.

I love being out in the elements snow/sleet crisp mornings where my breath freezes in my beard being my favorites, as someone else mentioned I'm not too keen on the wind though, I have always enjoyed cycling/motorcycling in the winter months much more than the summer, Warm is for wimps The bikes/motorbikes look much better with a good coating of road grime making them look well used rather than well polished! I'm even toying with the idea of some winter camping ( have done a small amount in the past). Being out in the elements gives me a real appreciation of my wood burner when I get home on those deep dark nights of winter.Bring it on !

Today was the worst weather I have encountered after 8,000 commuter miles.
I don't know why , well I do but I was just furious with the weather, my bike was all clean again after last nights down pour and then it happened again today,
I was just livid.
At one pint the rain was so heavy and the wind so strong that I could not see in front of me, and had to stop.

Normally I don't care at all, but today and yesterday I just about had enough, but why those 2 days after over 16 months I don't know.

I don't enjoy cycling in bad weather. I do feel good afterwards, knowing I didn't wimp out. Am now trying to recall the last wimp out day ..........

The only thing I hate is..................... when the weather can't decide what to do..................... never mind hey........
