I live in Yorkshire. You can't live in a nicer place.

Annual crime rates do not define nice areas. They only give a an indication of where reported crime occurs.

Not a particularly nice area according to that source, but I've lived here for 27 years and I still don't want to move anywhere else right now. The only thing that worries me about the area is the sudden proliferation of ludicrously large , stupid, expensive German vehicles. Still, they might act like a tethered goat and draw attention away from my humble £2000 wreck.

What is "Theft", and what is "Burglary"? Does somebody nicking my garden gnome count as theft? If he'd gone in to have a slash, would that be burglary?

Burglary is defined as 'entering as a trespasser premises with intent to steal'.

Theft is 'taking an item with the intention to permanently deprive the owner' of it.

In your example, it comes down to interpretation.

Nicking the gnome if it was stored in your garden shed is burglary.

Nicking the gnome from your tasteful garden pond display would be charged as theft.

Peeing in your garden could be charged as public indecency.

But of more use to those of us who occasionally visit Yorkshire.

Although I don't share your high opinion of Asquith's in Bedale.

I found both my plain and flavoured pork pies to be a bit greasy.

On t'other hand, I respect your expertise in these matters, so will have to give them another go.

All pie shops can have their off days. :okay:

Cockburns' pies in Bedale for instance had poor quality pastry on December 28th. I thought that they would have given Greenwoods of Boroughbridge a run for the money but only the pork and chorizo came close.

I'll have you know that I have a full-size David made of tasteful GRP, not a mere pond.

Quite so.

While I was disappointed with my two pies, variation is part of the attraction of buying an artisan product.

If I wanted factory consistency, I would go to McDonald's, which I do sometimes.

I live in a greener area than I used to, but the unit area the choose was a strange shape and took in quiet residential streets, with a main thoroughfare, two pubs and somewhere with a car park that would end up having more crimes I imagine. The colour didn't reflect my impressions of that area.
