Ahhh, had to google his name and assumed they had swapped his surname about.

He is in the mini series about the apocalypse that's on right now (doing a rotten US accent) but strikes me as good candidate...has a neat twist about his persona, can switch from comedy to drama and is captivating to watch.

Terrific scene that - remember it well. Must be 30 years before their (school) reunion, which was also superbly well done. "Hello Sarah-Jane" That brought tear to my eye.

I really like the new season, and though I too dislike the modern trend for too much emotion, there's so much that's great. Maybe the guitar will be OK give Troughton had his "flute". Loved the Dalek City one - really looked like the original - and the ghosts one too.

I think all the "new" Doctors have been excellent, Smith and Capaldi especially so as they've conveyed him as not being human better than their predecessors. Maybe only Sylvester McCoy has managed this out of the old lot - and though I think he was a great Doctor, he had quite poor material to work with and it was too big a cliff.to climb to redeem many of the fag end series.

goodbye Rose was pure tedium... then we had 'goodbye everyone' in Tennant's final episode... And how long did Clara spend saying goodbye to Mr Pink in the last series' finale? too bloody long!

I'd love to see Jo Brand as the first female Time Lord (she's already a qualified nurse): dead pan, pragmatic and definitely not someone to mess around with.
