I think it's fair to make a distinction between McCoy's Doctor, and Doctor Who in the McCoy era.
He was arguably the only "classic" Doctor who to appear alien or not-of-this-world. And as I say, Curse of Fenric was a cracking story.

When Tom Baker left the show, a friend asked who should replace him. I said that it should be the bloke who used to be in Vision On (showing my age here, classic kids show). That bloke was Sylvester McCoy. Unfortunately, he got the rubbish scripts. The story where he battled a giant Bertie Basset was the moment I stopped watching.
He was good Doctor, just lumbered with bad stories but Curse of Fenric is a belter.

I'll always love Pertwee and Tom Baker. But I think Capaldi is shaping up nicely to be up there with the best. He's on cracking form this series.

Did Pertwee have a son? Give him the job.

Pertwee's son played Alfred in Gotham on Channel 5. I think the Doctor should have a touch of humour and I'm not sure Sean Pertwee's got that.

The humour can come from the side kicks - Sean Pertwee & Karl Pilkington.

That would be amazeballs.

Not read the thread fully, has anyone commented that it is a shame that John Simm's turn as The Master tends to rule him out as a future Dr. I think he'd do a cracking job at it. Ecclestone (great portrayal) with more of a twinkle of humour to the intensity.
