If you saw the bit in this week's episode where he's hanging onto a rope to avoid being sucked out of the hole in the plane by a roaring wind, you might remember a previous quite similar occasion

Can't say I ever saw the original. Jeez that's bad hair. But played with commendable conviction!

If you want to watch stuff about the classic series without watching the stories, I'd recommend the 1992 documentary Resistance is Useless. It has a rundown of most of the companions, concepts, monsters . It's on youtube in several parts.

Slightly OT..

A few years ago we took the Cub pack to a Scouting Event

One of the guests was Graham Cole.

He was chatting to one of the mums and it turned out that they had been to stage school together and apparently in the early 80's one of their forst parts had been as Cybermen in Dr Who

Absolutely instant Street Cred....... Your Mother was a Cyberman!

That was part of the charm. They didn't have the budget so they had to come up with good stories. The stories weren't exactly Foundation but where good enough and fun.

I will only add that gold is like cyanide to Cybermen, because successive Doctors seen to have forgotten.
Ah, but these lot aren't the same Cybermen. I seem to remember that nail varnish remover did dire things to one generation of Cybermen too

Hubster said something about Matt Smith's Doctor lobbing some gold at them and that cyber command downloaded a patch to make them immune, some way into the future. I don't remember it but Hubster seems to.

I just saw Doctor Who season 8 available in a local store, and couldn't believe the price tag: it was $70 (£39)! How can they possibly justify it? I'll be waiting until it drops down to about half that, I think.
