Dodging the rain

Google suggests we've had six dry days in '26 so far in east Southampton.

Not ridden outdoors yet this year.

Despite telling myself I'd head out on the old commuting hybrid, if nothing else.

At least the code with my new turbo (Jetblack Victory) has covered most of my Zwift subs over winter, albeit I was rather annoyed that my Saris H3 only survived ~3.5 years.

Here in Denmark, I have not been out on a bike this year. We have been in a deep freeze since December. I find that the scooter is good enough for an hours ride. Its lower to fall off and there is nothing to clean.

No let-up here either. Was supposed to be going to a jazz gig this evening, but I'm not going to get cold and wet getting there just to get 'Stormy Weather' sung for me. Might just have made the effort for Ella and a big band...

It's weird. I hate cycling in the rain but am quite happy putting on waterproofs and going out for a walk in even heavy rain. Can't work out why the difference.

Even on cycling tour I'll sit out a day in a campsite/tent if it rains but if then also rains the next day I will cycle & endure (can't sit out 2 days in a row in a tent).

I actually like walking in the rain (we don't get much of that around here these days) and I don't mind riding in the rain as long as the route is flat with no turns. I have come off my bike too many times riding on wet surfaces on bends in the road due to my tyres slipping, so never again. Now I do not start a ride if it is wet and if it becomes so when already out, I am gingerly easing my way round the curves.
80 degrees here today, getting warm already. Shorts and tee shirt are de rigueur - and sun screen for cycling.

It actually stayed dry during the day here tp0day!

And I got out for a ride this afternoon. Still several places with water across the road, but nowhere more than about 10 yards at a time, and only a couple of inches deep.
