Does a degree help?

I've saved for twenty years to put them through uni. They're going whether they like it or not!

Send it to me; I've spent the last 20 or so years frittering away my money on worthless frivolities and beer and have nothing saved for mine to go. View it as helping my kids to escape from me, and helping your kids not being forced to follow your dreams.

Leaving aside the heartstring tug of helping your kids escape you frittering money on beer sozzled pannini sticker bidding on ebay, you forget, you don't have to pay 9k a year on tuition fees, the mention of which is going to start those dreams again of cheerfully strangling Nick Clegg whilst singing, always look on the bright side of life, at full volume.

Halycon days. When the queue from the admin office on the first day in, stretched around the building as students picked up their grants.

I did an open uni degree later in life as I wanted to change career - to be fair it did land me a decent job where the person spec said "degree essential" but it could have been a degree in absolutely anything, so you have to ask yourself where is the relevance......
I have to say that for most jobs its a case of qualification escalation, and bar helping with critical thinking skills, I don't think every job that lists a degree as essential needs it.
BTW got made redundant from that job and now work for myself as an artist (my degree was in psychology)
