Does a seasonal cyclist lose fitness over a winter break?

How far is the commute?

I have a similar routine. Hockey goes from Sept till March for me. Which leaves the summer months for cycling.
Weather wise, it's ideal.

But I'd just have a ride around in the evening possibly? 30 min - 1 hour sessions once or twice a week will quickly take up your evening. Keep to the same route you are comfortable with as well, no messing up then, also on Strava you can aim to get a PR!

There is never the wrong weather, just the wrong clothes.
You know of clothing that negates winds above Force 5?
Please advise:smile:.

Some misunderstanding of the term 'windproof' as used in the garment trade I think, but good try.

Well it worked for me in St Jude's Storm, I have been unable to test it higher than 75 mph gusts so far though :okay:

Tell that to someone with Raynaud's syndrome.

Ive never had a diagnosis but it runs in the family... Hands and increasingly feet affected. I find that not getting cold in the first place is the best but like anything else layering up of gloves and socks is the best protection. The best gloves i have are not actually cycling gloves but some that i bought from Winfields for a fiver after returning some leaky sealskins. I also wear a pair or two of decathlon £1 fleecy gloves under my Aldi Lobster claws :-)

There is very little weather-wise excepting severe snow and ice that will stop me going out if im in the mood. I commute at UN-earthy hours.
