Sorry, I didn't mean to make people with blogs feel defensive. 
I've not felt the need to have one myself but that's neither here nor there. I happen to find many that I've attempted to read are very dull. That's only my opinion. It really shouldn't upset people quite to the extent it seems to have. Or to start getting personal over the matter. But maybe that's just naive of me.
There's a difference between understanding a technology and wanting to engage with it.
I don't feel I'm missing out my in my choices, I simply have other means of sharing that work for me. (Though in the specific case of facebook, I have to admit I don't actually understand how it works either!)
My intention in posting was not to decry other people using such tools, not al all. Nor to dismiss the tools themselves. Merely to comment (in an intended to be humorous, 'what a crumpy old sod am I' kind of a way - this is the café after all) that I don't find the writings on most blogs captivating. That's hardly contentious. In fact, I reckon it's a statement which many, when they've stopped taking it personally, would probably agree with!
Finally, to perhaps put peoples minds at rest, I'm not aware of having read the blogs of any person that has contributed to the debate - nor is indeed on this forum. I'm sure those blogs are all VERY interesting

Yes, they are mind-numbing ... except when they contain the answer to the problem that you've just spent all morning foaming at the mouth trying to solve!
LOL - it's fun. really enjoy riding all the bridges, can pretend it's an alp on the way up. Colleague lent me a Ti Serotta, sweet ride!
Am actually in London for a few days, then off to China before going back to NYC. Moving back to London at Christmas though. Yayyyy!
