Does anyone else own a Pedersen ?

I've ridden several over the years but only recently purchased one........or most of one.

It's a 1980s Copenhagen bike and I'm really looking forward to restoring it over the winter.

Neil Bain from the legendary Bain's Bikes in Newhaven used to ride one and it looked awesome. Never had a shot though. What's it like?

They are often referred to as 'The Gentleman’s Bicycle' and with good reason. You sit bolt upright and proceed at a sedate pace. They are supremely comfortable but you have to get used to a very slight swaying of the saddle as you pedal.

I live in Copenhagen and see one or two about every now and then, though I've never ridden one. There was a guy that used to ride about on one while smoking a pipe.

I lived in Copenhagen briefly in the 1980s, and saw lots of these bikes in the city. I understood they were made in Christiania, the hippy quarter of Copenhagen. I see now that the maker was a guy called Jesper Sølling. I wonder what happened to him?

I imagine there's an optimum speed to ensure the correct dosing of nicotine - go too fast and you might get too much boost, too slow and the smoke gets in your eyes.
