As above really.
We have been offered a flat exchange in Crowborough and have never heard of the place.

I know we are supposed to be exchanging to Felixstowe but Flagship are blooming useless. They now want a report from an Occupational Therapist to say whether Hubster needs a level entry shower room. They want it, in writing via the post. An email will do for the time being though. :banghead:
They also want a reference from our Housing Officer who we have met once. I told the chap we met him for 10 minutes a couple of weeks ago. He asked about the HO before him but when I said that she had died in a road accident, he said that could be a stumbling block :banghead: I cannot re-animate the woman just to give a bloody report (I only met her for 10 minutes too, when we signed for the flat here). Flagship do not envisage a move within the next 8 weeks, despite the fact that we are supposed to be given a move date from the day we lodge the paper work (31st July)

We are on the verge of telling Flagship to stick the flat up where the sun doesn't shine and move elsewhere. Feet are itchy.

Anyway. Crowborough? Hilly? Flat? The flat is near Morrisons if that helps at all.

Don't know it but it's a lovely part of the SE. It's in the middle of the South Downs so hilly for the SE

I don't know the place either but my OS map suggests, as Vickster says- it is v hilly. The town is about 600 feet altitude. It has a station and the nearest Sustrans route is a couple of miles to the east (route 21). Just to the south is what looks like miles and miles of off road cycle route- poss along an old rail line. I'd love to have a go on that!

Thanks all. I've dropped the lady and email. I'll get used to hills. I noticed the cycle path too, after investigating a bit more with Google earth. Wikipedia seems to think it's an OK place and not mostly on fire or anything.

We really did want to me to be by the sea but Flagship are such a PITA that we might well be dodging a bullet here. They will eventually let us move in, but will we ever get out again unless we find someone who needs a wet-room more than we do. There is a bath at this other place, although it is on the 1st floor so no garden. Then again, we walk our dogs a lot so a garden is a bonus really.

Saluki you are not far from Hastings or Brighton so although not living on the beach its certainly within 40 mins in the car.

I stayed in Oxted briefly a few years back whilst travelling about.

Nice part of the world, if, just a little bit 'Londontised'.

Nice area. My late god father lived there some years ago, but bizarrely, his job took him to Norfolk!

One thing I do remember that they celebrate bonfire nights in that area.

Hilly and has it's own microclimate in winter. The rest of the county can have a light dusting of snow and Crowborough will be cut off.
It's a nice little town though.
I lived nearby for a while.
The bonfire societies and their nights need to be seen to be believed. Lewes the biggest one is riotous.

They celebrate bonfire night all year round in these parts. Bloody fireworks going off tonight. Nearly gave my neighbour and I a heart attack as we were walking to the gym.
