Does cycling make you drive more slowly?

I drove faster when I didn't cycle than I do now.

I'm not sure why, it has always been my policy to drive carefully and to avoid hitting anything.

Even more so if that thing is breathing.

All I can think is that the speed of a car now seems faster, particularly on roads that I also cycle on.

Has regular cycling altered your driving?

No but getting older and less impatient has.

I drive slower than I did when I was in my twenties, but whether that is to do with cycling, or just getting older and wiser, who knows?

EDIT: Vernon beat me to it, he must be a faster typer, does that slow down with age?

I'm a slower driver these days, used to ride my motorbike much quicker.
Now I just tootle along, driving a car is so boring. Going fast in a car doesn't give me a thrill at all.
Though been driven around Donnington circuit in a Lotus was great!

I'm a terribly slow driver, so slow even my Mum becomes impatient with me. Having a pick up truck with an engine that wouldn't impress Isambard Brunel doesn't help.

I don't think cycling is responsible for my turgid motoring habits, but it certainly makes more more solicitous of cyclists when overtaking, dippng headlights at night etc etc.

Why on earth would you buy a pickup truck?

When we encounter cyclists whilst driving, my wife and I discuss how they're riding, how other drivers are interacting with them, how we should be driving around them etc. But we tend to do that with other vehicles as well - we're both scientists who learned to drive in our thirties so we tend to be a bit analytical.
