Does leaving the chain on overnight tire the legs

Wouldn't that ruin the tyres by giving them a flat spot from being stood in the same position every day?

Best to fill them overnight with helium, which will keep them in shape but won't stress them as it is softer than normal air, then reinflate them with fresh air in the morning before riding.

The only answer to that is to deflate the tyres and rotate them a few degrees on the rims before reinflating each day..

And not have the label aligned with the valve? *shudder*

After having read all the dos and donts, it appears my 4 bikes are now worthless due to just putting them in the shed after a ride. I have dutifully left them by my brown recycle bin for Wigan council to recycle. It will be hard replacing these beauties but given the comments, needs must

Cranks need to be aligned to the seat tube angle at night, or 3-9 in the day, never 12-6.

A total myth

Placing the pedals in the same place each time means that all the stress is applied to the same sections of chain. You should be rotating the pedals so that the rest might pedal is in the same position as the small hand on a watch would be at the time of parking.

This method ensures that the stresses are shared equally between all links

I've found that if you store a bike upside down, the cadence will drain out of the bottom bracket via the seatube.

Whilst this makes the bike imperceptibly lighter, the low level of cadence makes it negligibly harder to pedal.

What bollocks! I have invented a chamber in which to store your cycle. In the chamber all air is removed and by a method I can not reveal all gravity is removed also.Therefore your cycle becomes frictionless and weightless.I can sell or lease these Chambers to cyclechat members at a discount.

Of course none of this applies to carbon bikes, as they should only be used at night. If used during the day, UV light causes them to melt.

You say that but I see carbon bikes out at night with lights attached to the frame. Do people not realise that the lights are rubbing the carbon, fractionally weakening it for every metre they cover? Next thing you know, catastrophic frame failure.

Personally I think the sensible thing to do is only ride on heavily overcast days, or within thirty minutes of sunrise/sunset. Still a bit risky with the UV but you have to live life a little sometimes.

You lot are dumb. The most sensible thing to do it not risk a carbon bike in transit or in usage. Therefore every year I post Trek a cheque and they build then keep then dispose of my bike.

I would have bought one of the chambers,but sadly i noticed the UPS logo,and i must decline,seeing as RM are paying me a pension,it would be so wrong.
