Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
No. It's seperate from the rest of your car Insurance, that is why you pay an extra excess, and it does not count as an Insurance claim.

You will definately need to tell your insurer.
I had a chip in my windscreen repaired, I think by Autoglass, and just like in the advert they took care of the paperwork. Thinking nothing of it, I didn't include this as a claim on my next insurance renewal and they flagged it up as an undisclosed claim.

It's a bit more complicated than that...
It depends. Read the policy, and if in doubt mention it. It's certainly a claim, but often doesn't affect NCD.

Does not affect your no claims but can often affect your premiums, for up to five years, the BBC did a program about this a while back. I advise people who want a repair not to go to company that replaces. Even if you do not tell your new insurers they will have it on CUE so will know when they asked you if you are supplying the correct information.

If when your windscreen was repaired there was anything other than what looks like a dried raindrop left, then the job was not carried out correctly. The major companies lack the skills and tooling required to carry out quality repairs every time.

I can talk about this subject for hours, I have been involved in WSR for over 25 years, and have been teaching it and supplying tools to independent companies for the last 10. www.deltakits.co.uk is one of mine.

Now think about this one a replacement company gets say £200 margin on fitting a new screen takes 40 minutes, a quality repair takes the same amount of time and gets them £45, I wonder which they really want to do.

on 99% of policies and I once submitted a claim for a rear window in a Saab convertible, they told me as long as I paid the £75 excess they would fit new glass, little did they (and myself at the time) know the rear window of a 1994 Saab 900 isn't replaceable, so once they had the car they called me and asked if I wanted the car writing off or a new roof fitting, as the car was an immaculate 900SE convertible in the very rare Ruby red, I opted for a new roof.........the actual claim ran into thousands and the roof had to be specially made as none were available.

My insurance never asked for anymore towards the cost, and my NCB wasn't affected:thumbsup:

God I miss this car...........

Nice car, I agree NCB not affected, from inside the insurance industry we know in a lot of cases premiums are, you will not know this though.
