I think you'll find many of us have got really poor facilities. I've never worked where facilities have been any better than disabled loos (I consider I'm lucky if I can find one). One place I was doing a 30 mile each way commute (not every day like now) and I was getting changed in a toilet cubicle. Even when I was doing a 20 miler each way that was the same.

Count yourself lucky that you have the facilities that you have. If you are that bothered, towel dry. Or shower without washing your hair, and wash your hair when you get home.

Thing is, can you use a hairdryer in a store/stationery room ? I appreciate they may not want to install sockets into a changing facility, but there is nothing to stop you taking one in.

I commute between 3 sites, two in the city centre and one outside. The best I have is to get changed in my office, hang my kit up in the corner and dry it with a desk fan. If I'm on site, it's find the nearest disabled loo (chosen as there is space to move - changing in a small toilet cubicle is not fun), quick wipe down with baby wipes then all my damp/wet kit in my panniers until time to go home - not nice jumping into damp cycling shorts after a 12 mile ride !

Personally, if you need a hair dryer, take one in !

Well I have taken my hair dryer in but there's nowhere private to plug it in and the corridor isn't the most ideal place to dry your hair! I've also been informed that technically I shouldn't be plugging anything in that hasn't been PAT tested. Anyway, as I said earlier in the thread, my work have agreed to install a hair dryer now for me and the several other women who cycle in. They're going to make a big 'splash' about it to hopefully encourage others to cycle in as well as they realise this was probably a barrier in the past.

Thats good news - well done to you for raising the question, hopefully your employers positve response will encourage others who may have been waivering about cycling in.

In all the offices I've ever worked (which is about 10) over 30 odd years, only one did not have a shower. I moved office 3 months ago and the latest office has secure parking (pass controlled), showers, lockers and a hairdryer. My commute is only 4 miles and mostly downhill on the way in, but I find I still sweat up quite a bit, especially if I get involved in "commutter racing", or if I i get my clothing choice wrong. It's difficult at this time of year to know how cold it is and I can either be freezing or boiling on my way in, if I get it wrong.

We have a hair dryer at work. The only time I've used it is to dry out/warm up my gloves before a winter ride home.

Same here.

Another thing we have is a golf course, which I can take a short-cut over and avoid a monster hill on the way home :wahhey:
