Im lucky enough to live close to the beautiful Malvern Hills with their abundant natural springs...Ideal for filling your bottles during a hot and hilly ride.

As I dragged myself up the 20% Evendine climb, the promise of a cool drink kept my spirits up. Sadly as I drew up to the well (pictured below) I was greeted by the sight of a bloke washing down his giant dog in the stone trough! Worse still the dog was facing outwards with its arse pushed firmly onto the pipe.

If I had been five minutes later, the offending dog and its idiot owner would have probably have gone and I would have been non the wiser. Mind you, I suppose a good dose of dog intestinal worms might get my weight down and make the climbs a bit easier....every cloud and all that!

Euwww!

I've walked the Malvern Hills several times, beautiful place. Is there a Malvern Hills users group or such like on Facebook, this might be one for them if you do want it flagged up.

How do you know what's been in the water further up? Run off from fields full of cow pats for example? Dead flies?
Small children may well have splashed in the trough too, they're generally far germier than dogs.

Did it make a plop sound when it finally shot off the pipe?

It's a spring. Water comes up from the rocks below. The water last fell as rain before the universe began. Well maybe not quite that long ago.........

The water is not run of the hills, it's from springs deep within the hill side and it was blessed by the budists last week so it must be safe! (Its also tested twice a week by Severn Trent water). I wouldn't mind children playing in the trough so much, but I would be concerned if they were pressing their naked behinds on the pipe!

It is my favourite spring, and now it is dirty to me!

It was a big husky by the way.

But...the pipe has water running through it all the while.
Give it a minute once the dog has gone and it's fine.
It's not like the pipe was actually up the dogs bottom, is it?

It's why I never buy bottled water:sad:.

I would like to tell you that I never see local restaurant owners filling loads of water ( I want to say ' butts ' but not appropriate) bottles from this spring, but would be lying.

"Spring water with your meal sir"?
