Who's brand and where from? Our Greyhound and Lurcher mix doesn't make much difference - we were advised to try Californian Mix but it is more for still racing dogs and was near £50 a bag.
Our museli comes from a local shop, Jolleys. I know that they are all over Norfolk but not if they are UK wide. Its their own brand. £14 for 15kg, its nice and sticky and hubby's picky JRT will eat it, which is a minor miracle in itself. Our lot love it and old Gabriel is a lot less windy than he was. His backside could strip the paint remaining after his breath had done its work.

This recession's getting really bad now, isn't it? The manufacturers of Winalot are in serious trouble. It's got so bad, they've had to get the retrievers in.

anyone else's family use the SBD abbreviation - most are saying it in full? don't' know if it is a common one

Silent but violent was the term used in my neck of the woods.

The eldest of our two cats manages to leave behind the most terrible smell after a crap in the sandbox. Lit candles, joss sticks and anything else I can find before I'm choked doesn't really do the job.

Funnily enough, despite our back patio leading up to a large wood, the cats (so well house-trained as they are) come in to have a sh*t! FFS!

Hate to say it but at £14 for 15kg that really is bottom end of quality. I have spent many an hour 15 years ago doing in store demo's in Pet Stores changing food can really make a difference to a few areas mainly coat and poo!

Actually its very good quality, it comes from a small feed place where the chap runs it for the love of hounds. You are right that as a general rule of thumb, £14 for 15kg is pants food, but not this stuff. His horse feeds cost a fortune, and are bloomin' fantastic, my horses positively glow, but the dog museli is his loss leader. He also has a lamb & rice kibble, a free range chicken and rice kibble and a beef & veg kibble, none of which make it to my feed tubs I don't have £40+ for 15kg - not that the fussy JRT would eat it anyway. He puts his dog feeds through one family run chain of shops or you can drive to him - although I don't know where he actually is, some tiny village in Norfolk though. All four of my dogs have gleaming coats, good teeth and are seriously fit. They don't poo an excessive amount, their anal glands are fine and don't need expressing. I also feed raw rabbit & venison daily - from the cheap end of the scale you might say, or free as we call it.

I don't feed crap, but then again I cannot afford to sell my soul for some of the expensive brands. Our vet actually recommends the museli from the small food mill as its only 18% protein, so the dogs are not climbing the walls, locally sourced meat, veg & grain. One of the shop staff swears by the greyhound Maint museli, she does get a discount but she would probably do better promoting the more expensive foods. I do actually know my way around the various dog foods and canine nutrition in general. I've been working with dogs since 1980 and there are quite a few brands that I wouldn't recommend to my clients.

Dog farts are something else. We give ours Burns Chicken and Rice. Labrador/GSP cross.

The only downside is that we give him the bits off the cooked meat slicer at work (I'm a butcher) and those of us who are from Lincolnshire will know what "stuffed Chine" is. The effect of this on the dog is tangible and sets his arse on fire.

My dog doesn't fart very often, but when it does it stinks, but she always look around when it happens as if to say, "who did that? Was it you or me?"

We have one within a couple of miles. Thank you

I would've used SBD but wasn't sure if it was widely used!

We used SBV (Silent-But-Violent) when I was a kid too, Dayvo. These days I like the phrase 'to tread on a duck' to describe the breaking of wind, or 'One more turn and she'd have started, Mr Brown!"
