But coffee and cheese scone at Ightham Mote is another thing ...

That looks like a good destination for another mini tour. The nearest cafe stop to Ightham Mote that I have cycled to is Teapot Island at Yalding. The Italian themed 'Hop Farm' restaurant at Beltring (Paddock Wood) was surprisingly good, and good value before 7pm, unlike the campsite which was £25.75 for one night for a solo bike camper.

Yes, Ightham Mote is a National Trust property and well worth a visit, although check opening times as they seem to close the house when it gets into the winter months. The cafe is outside the property, so you don't need to pay an entrance fee and for me this is a nice half-way stop on one of my routes.
