Okay, here's another lost data scenario...
My nephew's Vista laptop crashed this afternoon. He used a Windows recovery disk to try and get it going again. Note that I said '
a' disk not '
the' disk! It turns out he used the XP recovery disk for his mum's laptop. So, he accidentally changed the type of operating system and quite possibly the type of file system too. All of his music, photos and videos have now disappeared and he doesn't have a backup...
I'm pretty sure that he isn't going to be able to recover his files, but am I right or am I wrong? If there is a way of doing this that doesn't cost a fortune, could somebody please tell me what it is?
