:hello::sun:Hi Everyone :sun::hello:,
I'm looking for a electric mountain bike with or without suspension (not sure about that, if I need it).
My height is 1m68 and my inner leg measurement is 80cm, so I think I'm a small according to bike websites.

The thing is a want to be able to ride alone, as well with my baby.
For now she is still sitting in a bike trailer Thule chariot (to attach at the back of the bike), but I want to switch her seating up later to maybe a front seat.

I guess with a the Thule chariot the electric bike will be fine, with or without suspension.
She won't notice anything of the bumps because she has her own suspension.

But if she rides in the front, then I'm gonna need suspension I think.

Now I have an old MTB, but despretly need another one. :hyper:

Can you please help me?

Many thanks!^_^^_^^_^^_^^_^^_^^_^^_^
P.s. we do flat bike rides as well in the forrest uphill (with an old bike and a chariot!):bicycle::heat:

I like Skol

A Minging Manc...
Hi and welcome to the forum :hello:

I assume you won't be doing anything more challenging than forest trails and canal towpaths with the child in a seat?
Suspension shouldn't be necessary and may actually handle quite badly with the extra weight of a child and seat which can make the bike a bit of a handful at the best of times.
I would recommend a rear seat like the Hamax Kiss. I used one of these with my two kids and it was great. I used it for taking them to tots sessions as well as longer family rides. I would think putting a child on a seat in front of you might be a bit restrictive.

Hi :hello: and many thanks!

No certainly not, just for the flat bits.
And if we do a moderate forrest trail it will be with the chariot.

Many thanks for the advice!^_^

Hi :hello:

So I'm still looking for a electric mountainbike.

Doesn't need to be very fancy, but needs to be a good quality for fair price.

With supsension or not? That's the question.

Could anyone help me with this?:bicycle:

If you're sticking to the sort of trails mentioned so far, no suspension needed. But these days, if you buy a "mountain bike", it will have at least front suspension. So look at a good e-hybrid. Beef up the tyres to wide semi-slicks and it will do the forest trails with ease. The problem with e-bikes generally is that they are heavy, so if you must go this route, try for the lightest you can afford. As with anything cycling, light weight can mean ligh wallet!

I was thinking about a canyon e-bike.
Any mountain e-bike is quite expensive.
But there is a difference between back suspension and without.
Like these two: GRAND CANYON:ON or Neuron:ON

But I don't know if the extra cost is worth it.

What is your budget?

Not set. Not too much. 1500-2500.
But if I look at mountaibike e-bikes, 2300 is the min. or I'm a wrong.
I really want a good bike that will not fail me.
I prefer a Bosch or something similar then a Bafang(not really trustworthy?).

Yes, that's about the strength of it.

A full sus will be difficult on your budget, but you could get a decent Bosch hard tail.

Cube is a good make, and the bikes are good value.

Plenty of choice from the online discount retailers.

For the sort of use you are talking about you don't even need an MTB, and certainly not one with suspension. You'd probably be a lot better off with a simple rigid hybrid that would be considerably lighter and cheaper.

What brand or bike would you recommend?:hello:

Do you think I need a full suspension?

What do I need to look out for in a e-mountainbike?

Many thanks for the tip!:notworthy:

You look for the same things you look for on a push bike.

An advantage of a hard tail mountain bike is it's a good blank canvas.

Slap a pair of shallow tread balloon tyres on it and you have a comfy riding hybrid.

The cheaper emountain bikes have lots of bosses on the frame so you can mount a rack and mudguards if you want to.

As I mentioned earlier, Cubes are good and tend to be well priced, but there are lots of other makes, mostly with a version of the Bosch motor - you won't go far wrong with any of those.

Buying locally is always better if you can, and most local bike shops now stock a few ebikes.

Pauls is another well established online discounter.

Most of the bikes they have in your budget are Cubes.
