It turns out that Sidney Marshall, a 90 year-old WWII RAF pilot with a Distinguished Flying Medal died alone this week and looks likely to be buried in a silent ceremony next week.
If you feel, as I do, that this isn't right, then could you think about attending? I'm going to go. I never knew him but feel that it would be wrong if he wasn't recognised for his achievements.
He is to be buried at Lytham Park Crematorium at 1.30 pm on Friday, July 4th.
His wife died 18 months ago and he had no children. His surviving brothers are too ill or infirm to attend.
The arrangements are through Roland Whitehead and Daughter, funeral directors of Blackpool.
