Footage of an Aussie mum towing her baby daughter behind her bicycle on a busy road has shocked police and road safety experts. They say it is irresponsible and downright dangerous. You be the judge.

The cyclist's version:

Cycle Crazy

The reporting on that first one was shoot.
Her cycling seems fine. A child on a seat on her back or on the trailer, hit by a car it makes no difference. Might as well get rid of cycling all together. Take it a step further, get rid of motorbikes. Oh wait car are not safe too. Hit a truck at 80mph on the motorway your dead. hmm not safe for the little child.

Note: after he passes the cyclist nothing happens.

Apparently he is a "Tester in Traffic Police" so don't teach him the rules .
Nothing like using your own camera footage to confirm you are a nobber.

It's amusing how riders use cameras for their own safety from what I've seen yet these two examples are possibly / probably doing it because riders are.

That video is disgusting. It really angered me just watching it. None of the cars were doing 60kmph in that city and they certainly wouldnt be doing that T-boning only the trailer.
"...with traffic hurtling past you in a congested city. She is being downright dangerous." Hang on, isnt the traffic around her the danger? The only danger she is putting the kid on is the chance of it falling out of the trailer. The only danger is everyone else.
"Cycling should be made illegal. She is putting her kids life in danger." See point above. In that case should walking on the streets be made illegal so that there are pavements everywhere, even on deserted country roads? Should anything other than driving a motor vehicle be made illegal?

It really angers me and I feel so sorry for the poor woman who was clearly harassed as by what she said in her post. Even though the TV crew blurred the kids face, they clearly did not ask the woman to air her face on TV (which is a breach of the law in this country as the TV company are an organisation).

Grrrrrrr....

At leasxt the comments are supportive Matthew, most people realised that was a disgusting report.

what a sloppy bit of scaremongering and scapegoating. :cursing:

edit... this reminds me of a friend of mine a couple of years ago... on seeing a similar kiddy trailer being ridden around the one way system.

her: I hate people who use those things... putting your kids in one and going on the road, they're so dangerous.

me: well it is fluorescent yellow, with a couple of huge gt orange flags sticking up... it's hardly invisible to the other traffic.

her: that's not the point, they are sooooooo dangerous.

me: have you ever actually heard of any kiddies being killed in one?

her: no but... look at them, they're soooo dangerous. They shouldn't be allowed!

me: so it's ok to put your kids in the back of a car, a mode of transport that has left countless dead kiddies... but it's not OK to put your kids in a bike trailer, a mode of transport that neither you nor I can think of a single fatality or injury.

her (thinks for a moment): you're a w@nker!

HHHAAAAA AHAAAAHAAAAHAAAAA!

The OP's video - been removed by the poster. What a w@nker, claiming he's "a tester in traffic police".

As for the Aussie bike trailer video, that depresses me considerably. What a bunch of dumb c@nts. They should go live in the Netherlands for a while to realise just why it's such a prosperous and happy country.

My sister had one of those trailers, she used when the twins were small. The only time she felt unsafe was when they (the twins) saw a friend and waved madly "made the whole trailer shake". When they got large enough(the twins not the trailer) she got two tag alongs.
