It's even worse when your saddle is a little too high and when you stop you get caught up on the saddle and can't get a foot down and it happens when you have just made a mistake in front of a load of car drivers during a right turn in the middle of the road!

You mean there is an area of spare Lycra after your arse ends and this bit hanging down catches the saddle?when you start off, and your cycling shorts get caught on the saddle
If so there are two alternatives, you either need
a) smaller shorts or
b) a bigger arse

Normally this would make the shorts to be a bad fit/ not tight enough !when you start off, and your cycling shorts get caught on the saddle
