I am looking for a new waterproof jacket and saw an advert for the Altura Night Vision jacket at Evans, showing as £49.99 .. £20 off the normal price

When I visit the site I find only the XXXL in yellow is this price ... ALL others are the normal £69.99

I'll be avoiding Evans in future

Yes - poor practice imo. Should be illegal. The retail bike sector is full of crap like this eg sales where the sale products are not in stock etc etc.

that is annoying but it was probably a case that you were either too late and stock has been sold, or they are trying to shift 'odd' sizes that are left over. Either way you can't complain too much. Evans have some good deals and their service has been improving over the last few years - you could do a lot worse shopping with some of the other online cowboys!

It maybe that the one at the lower price was the original Night Vision, they have just brought out new variant. I had the same issue in that I could only find sizes of the older / cheaper one that didn't fit.

If it helps, I bought the new one at £69.99 and in my opinion is worth every penny over the outgoing one that my pal bought a few weeks earlier.

This is called "Bait and Switch" tactics, totally illegal where I live. I understand Evan's is a large retailer in the UK, that makes it even more deplorable.

On both Evans and Chainreaction it normally reads from £x and not a firm price as they have that with saddles too where a certain colour or size is cheaper in order to shift the unpopular ones. I was looking at saddles recently which is why I brought up that example and they all definitely stated "From" on Evans.

So does 'GAME' stores online - in relation to 'cheap' console games which NEVER seem to apply to PS3 games but only X-Box and sometimes Wii games. But I guess these online shops have to get your interest somehow, even if the ad IS misleading, they have managed to get you to look at their site which is the whole point - apart from getting you to buy something of course.

The flip side is wiggle when you have 4 different prices for same thing but various sizes. Because the prices are different they come up separately & only see 3 of the 4 so think they don't stock what you want.
