There are a couple of people who I meet on the road at the same time each day so starting to build up a relationship with them

I cheekily drafted a guy the other day on my commute. Waiting at the traffic lights this guy rocks up on a full carbon ultegra beast of a bike full lycra (from a local decent club). And I was in my work stuff on my cx bike. I didn't ask if it was ok to draft, but I didn't expect to be able to keep up! No way I could have overtaken him on the bike I was riding (heavy/low pressure knobbly tires etc) but I kept with him for a couple of miles until my turnoff.

Not sure if he was annoyed at the drafting or me managing to keep pace on my bike which cost less than a quarter of his! But towards the end I'm sure he was aiming those snot balls directly at me!

Its very sad but true that Glasgow commuters are a dying breed but there are a few of us along Paisley Road West in the morning heading towards town. Hopefully with the better weather coming in the numbers will increase soon

That was my commute for 8 years or so before I retired. Didn't see too many other cyclists then, but I was usually in the office before 8am.

Edit : just remembered that one day, on the way back to Paisley, there was a shaven-legged roadie stopped at the lights at Crookston Rd. He asked me to go ahead as he was 'fed up with guys trying to draft him'. We got chatting and it turned out to be Brian Smith on his way in to Dooley's.
