Over the past few months I've definitely got the cycling bug and spend an increasing amont of my time drooling over different bikes on the net (believe it or not I do have a life lol).

So, what's everyone's dream bike collection???

Currently for me it would be a Cav style Venge with SRAM Red 22 mechanicals for when I feel like a short blast and then either a Cannondale Super Six Evo or Pinarello Dogma with Dura Ace Di2 for the longer hillier stuff!!

Then maybe a hardtail MTB but no idea which yet......

Lower end Tarmac is probably what I'll go for in the real world next time. Love my Allez Elite but thinking eventually I'd like a full carbon frame.

Would love an S Works though!!

I have frame Number 2  being built with Zipp 808 Cav signature edition wheels, Zipp 145-SL Stem and Zipp Service Course.. Its waiting for me to decide if I'm running Shimano Di2 with hydraulic rim brakes or SRAM Red22 with hydraulic rim brakes.

Although I'm also reasonably content with my current bikes.
Can't say I really have a dream bike collection..

I didn't realise shimano did hydro rim brakes as well!! Have you tried the hydro ones? Are they a big improvement?

Shimano don't do hydro rim brakes, I am considering using the shimano hydro shifter and sram hydro rim brakes and adapting them.
I've never had any issue stopping a bike with cable brakes so remain unconvinced, as does Cav himself as if you look at TDF pictures he seems to loose them part way through the tour.
The big thing I need to do is decide if I'm building an exact replica of Cav's bike or using decent electronic shifting.

Aha I see!

Not a fan of SRAM then? I never noticed he ditched the hydro brakes!

I do love the look of the Venge! Screams "faster faster" :-)

SRAM is fine, I just have Di2 ingrained deeply in me. Its my preferred group set typically and I run it on most of my current bikes.
If you love the Venge that much, I have one of my Venges for sale.. lol (opportunist hint  )

One of the noticeable things about the SRAM hydro is the high tops on the shifters, in the photo finish on stage 5 you can see that the shifters on Cavendish's bike were the exact same height as those on Sagans bike.
The Hydro setup on Cav's bike was hacked together as it was a 10 speed groupset and the hydro shifters were never released for these, I also understand that they ceased to parade the bike to the press after stage five.
