Sorry to read of your bad luck. Hope you recover quickly although not too quick
so you can be out enjoying summer riding. Although you've been to ER it is also a good idea to go along to your GP who can be very influential in cases of PI not only for your injuries and treatment but for how it is affecting you especially if they know you are a super fit cyclist. Your injury will certainly initially prevent you from enjoying your cycling which is so important to you.
Whiplash. hip, knee..............have you suffered an injury at work or in the car? YOU could be entitled to compensation. £££££££££££.
Will your insurer appoint a solicitor for you or will you have to find your own?
Remember any compensation is supposed to put you back into a position just prior to the accident. Injuries for sportsmen and women can be very serious. Certainly make the other side aware that you now have additional transport costs that you would not have incurred had the accident not happened as you would regularly commute to work by bike in all weathers. You were only driving this day to attend a meeting elsewhere.
If your employer just gives you time off to recover and still pays you then you don't lose anything so they will have to submit a claim with yours for the wages they have paid you while you were away from work recovering. That's how it worked with my employer. They also adjusted my record so that it did not count as sick leave and I wasn't forced to take annual leave. Hopefully you will be in a similar position. This is of course if the other side admit or do not dispute liability.
