That's one way of bending a coin, until it finally breaks and kills you.
 
It’s a good bodge, good to get you going, probably be fine indefinitely, but I would soon replace it with something more designed to do the job, or that doesn’t instantly look like it only cost 50p

Looks like it would be at least as strong as the bike frame, only thing would you consider fitting twin pivot calipers as they would improve the braking performance quite a bit?

I am not convinced at that, they probably would take a pound-ing, but not much more.

LOL,Dont know if the bike is heavy or light but perhaps also add a pound onto it?

I've got a set of the old Campy ones I don't need... though I'd want rather more than a Pound for them... I was going to use them to fit a set of Deltas to a Brompton but thought better of it... I'm using offset pad holders instead....
