There are some great middle weight "do everything" bikes today but not much that I would want to buy for fun, or to just to look at. Barcelona was full of Mash bikes when I went in June, 125's, 250's & 400's, I didn't see one there 2 years ago yet now they are everywhere, cheap and just what people want. The Chinese plugging a blindingly obvious gap in the market.

On that note, I quite fancy one of these new little AJS's:

Looks nice, but it needs to be at least 250cc to cut the mustard.

I know that wouldn't be any good for learners, but sod 'em.

Yeah you could blast all the way to the next petrol station.
True, but you always had a smile when you arrived. That bike was pure unadulterated fun  I recently had a go on a Aprillia RSV Mille, that was a bit too hardcore and serious for me, but I did nail the throttle in the first 3 gears, bloody hell. I guess I've mellowed a bit with age

Ah that brought back memories. Passed my test on one of those, SDT6L, loved it, the little cut out on one side for the fuel tap, the other for the choke, the bolt to unscrew near where the key went, was a tool kit behind it, or was that the other side. Lifting the seat to fill up, thank you for bringing the memories flooding back.

Thirty years ago I hired one, or very similar, and yobbed around Corsica for a couple of weeks, fantastic fun, I've never ridden a scooter before or since, or at least not a bike where you have to twist the clutch lever assembly to change gear.

The Honda Cub, in it's 50, 70 and 90cc guises is the best selling motor vehicle of all time.
I had the CD 90 variant, same engine but with a 4speed gearbox and manual clutch.

I cheated though and stuck an SS 50 tank, exhaust and chainguard on it and used to go out 'baiting' FS1E and AP50 riders on it, they would just start to pull away when I was in 3rd (and they were in top) but I'd got another gear left.
