David Duffield departed this earth a few days ago. Famous for his Dufferisms and his lengthy descriptions of the local cheeses of whatever reason the race he was covering passed through, he could be irritating at time but I suspect he was regarded with a good degree of affection by most Eurosport viewers. Quite a decent rider himself, too.

He was a lovely bloke, a proper bike rider, never ever lost the enthusiasm. He had "sort of" retired, but always had a fund of stories, a daft joke, and a smile. Nice way to be remembered.
