Getting hung up on this sort of inane detail to score internet points is where the feminist movement is failing. Meanwhile there are women living in this country who will be beaten or killed for running away from arranged marriages.
This may well all be true.

But how does getting antsy on the interwebs about what alleged white middle class men say, think, and do to help with the arranged marriages thing?

If calling a woman a cow, in a self-proclaimed fun and friendly community, is where the sisterhood is at these days I, for one, clearly need to brush up on my feminist credentials.
Horses for courses. The accepted norm on Cyclechat is to call such people a nobber or (if a member of U2, or a politician, which may or may not not be the case for a councillor) a twat.
Oi!

If the person is a cyclist they are automatically demoted to the status of cockwomble. If a cyclist in skinny jeans and a beard/cardigan a hipster cockwomble.
If all of the above in Greater London a tragic hipster cockwomble.

And you should know that you nobber.

Her racially motivated remarks about "white young men" have been overlooked..Do they not count as victims of discrimination?

"A £23 million scheme intended to transform cycling in Birmingham has been blasted as discriminatory and only benefiting "white, young men".

I struggle with those forms that ask for my ethnic origin. I've asked several times, and nobody will say how far back they want me to go. As a consequence, I follow science that says we're all out of Africa and put black African. It does raise funny looks.
I was listening to the radio a few weeks ago and there was a mixed race guy talking about the "ethnicity" questions that come up on variopus forms etc...He said to someone I don't know what to put, shall I put "black", which was deemed ok. The woman said a lot of mixed race people put that. Then he said "well, can I put white then?" and just received a gone out look as if to say of course not.

An example of something that drives me up the frigging wall - frankie boyle is a horrible horrible man who spouts disgusting, unfunny, bile and twaddle and yet if anyone says that they are offended by this oxygen thief then they get called humourless and over-sensitive. 100% of the time it's by a white middle class man.

My wife is not white, not middle class, nor a man and she would say you are being over-sensitive and humourless.

My poor wife normally has to put "other" as none of the boxes apply. Where she comes from such questions don't exist as the majority of people are a mix of this that or the other and they don't pay much attention to it (apart from the ex-colonial whites who don't like to mix)...

I struggle with such forms too. I find it pretty offensive to be asked that, in the same vein as being asked my religion.

I understand why they generally ask for it, but by asking for it and using the information to provide stats to prove something or other, it keeps race up there as a societal issue when it should have sweet FA about absolutely anything.

The ideal employee would be a non-heterosexual, trangender, mixed race amputee Jews for Christ adherant. So many boxes ticked in one fell swoop to demonstrate that the employer is an equal opportunities employer.
