Dumped by text

Have any of you been dumped by text and if so how did you react, what did you do and what was the outcome. I think silence in these situations is often the best policy and let them stew. It is the probably the most common way of getting dumped, it can tear your world apart leaving you feeling so alone and rejected but it is possible to move on and there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Years ago I was in the middle of a theatre rehearsal when my phone vibrated. I read the text during the break and found I had been dumped.

Cowardly way to do it.
I ignored it and carried on with the rehearsal (show must go on, and all that) and figured I was better off without, which I was.

I would wonder how I could ever have been attracted to somebody that spineless and insensitive!

I'm with Mort, when I entered my present relationship, mobile phones were the size of tissue boxes and used solely by people in padded jackets and mullets. So no I've never been dumped by sms.

I can't remember how it was done before Mr Summerdays (too long ago) but I think it would have been by letter, face to face or by telephone (possibly a phone box!!!).

I was once dumped by proxy.

I was at college and in a relationship with J in our class. I was talking to a mutual friend who said "I was talking to J the other day and said 'So you and A have been together a while now....' and J said 'Not anymore were not!' so I thought I'd come and ask you what happened."

It was the first I heard that things had changed!

Breaking up by text seems like an easier way to do it, sure, but it's cowardly and heartless.
If you cared enough about someone to get into a relationship with them, then have enough decency to get out of it in a civilised manner. Or as much so as possible, anyhow - there's never a good way, but some are better than others.

Never been dumped, because I've never been in a relationship. Though some of my experiences when I tried to change that were like going straight from chatting up to a very expensive, painful divorce.
