I only use chamois crème on my longer rides and tend to use it sparingly, so it turns out a tub of Assos I bought a wee while back is still on the go.

My wife queried yesterday when I bought it, to which I replied it must be close to 15 years ago. She thought I was joking, so I quickly worked out that I got it at the same time as my first carbon road bike and that was a few house moves ago. She grabbed the tub and found it has a batch date of October 2012, which fitted in with the bike purchase, so I was feeling quite smug at that point. She then explained that the clearly depicted box with the code ‘12M’ contained within, is not some form of encrypted message that man doesn’t need to decipher, but an expiry date of 12 months from opening !

Honestly, why she would expect me to read the small print on a tub of crème, goodness knows. She’ll be expecting me to read instruction manuals next 😉🤣

is that the old recipe one, with a light blue colour? i think it had some ingredients that were put on the nasty list (the new one is white)

the 12m code is a 'period after opening', pao is used for things with a long shelf-life, generally i ignore the pao and only bin whatever it is if it has changed appearance/consistency/smell

I've still got some 1990s Tiger Balm, which I still happily use.

But definitively NOT ever as chamois cream!

We chanced eating some vegan high protein noodles on the 13th this week, dated use by 12th... I think we're both still alive, just!

I found some mince pies that were over a year out of date. There wasn't any mould on them but the filling had turned rock hard.
