or then...........a colleague of Susie's. Went to the airport to meet her boyfriend to go on holiday to Italy. Who was with another woman. Who he was taking on the holiday, having told her, in a public place, with the other woman on his arm, that she was dumped.

I was dumped via MSN messenger after getting a haircut that she didn't like. Not the most firmly grounded relationship it seems

There are no nice ways to do it really. . . maybe spell it out in alphabetti spaghetti?

Ha, like the girl who dumped me because I told her I thought Guns and Roses were shoot.

Although not strictly being dumped, I know of one person who got phoned up out of the blue by a private detective to say that his wife was having an affair. The detective had been hired by the wife of the other half of the affair.

Another got a windfall of around £20k, and as he had married his wife young and always struggled a little for money he gave her it all and told her to spend it on what she liked. She spent it on running away with her gym instructor.

Have any of you been dumped by text and if so how did you react, what did you do and what was the outcome. I think silence in these situations is often the best policy and let them stew. It is the probably the most common way of getting dumped, it can tear your world apart leaving you feeling so alone and rejected but it is possible to move on and there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Sorry, it just occurred to me.
Have you just been dumped by text?

I guess saying nothing, at least for the time being, is good. Plan to move on and commit to nothing in reply until you are in a better mind.
And, yes, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Often, when someone so callous leaves you, the tunnel can prove to be much shorter then you imagined.

The last time I got dumped (as with others here) SMS hadn't been invented. I got a phone call on Christmas Eve. In all honesty, things were so complicated that my only emotion was relief...

My dad used to tell the story of the time he managed to set up three different girls, to meet him at the same cinema on the same evening to see the same film. (Fairly poor organisational skills, it has to be said.) As he arrived on the bus he realised his mistake, whistled to get the attention of the nearest one and called out "come with me - there's a better picture showing down the road" and apparently got away with it, at least temporarily.

I'm sure there's more to that story...

I think this thread requires this picture:

it's the ''...at least temporarily that implies the story continues, possibly all meeting in the same restaurant for a meal.

I was once dumped by a note pushed through our door when I was away for the weekend with my Mum. I was relieved. TBH, as I wasn't all that happy with things.

He rang the day after I got back, and said "I've made a mistake", and I said "No, you haven't", and that was it....
