A modern war at such a scale that conscription would become necessary would have run out of political will or gone nuclear before it got to that stage.

Whatever you do, don't mention the virus. I mentioned it once but I think I got away with it.

I would either be in a reserved occupation or put in military intelligence. If it were military intelligence I would be conspiring against my current colleagues, although depending on who we were up against I might not have access to all the data I would need as they might have it It shows how truly international we are and that an old fashioned war is pointless.

Just young enough to be called up then, although given I was rejected by HM Forces when I tried to join as a teenager I suspect I'd have to be found something else to do.

I'm 56, but would be happy to open up the old WWII pillbox on our beach, and move my home office in there. I could take my Swiss Army Penknife and garden rake so I'm all "tooled up". Lovely views too, don't you know?

Would you organise a Home Guard armband for me Drago, to make it all official like?

Too old to be called up. Also too old for the "Dad's Army" (or whatever it was called). The latter had a top age of 65.

No doubt the current government would increase the age limit in line with pensions.
