If the builders were any good QUOTE]

Please, please, please. Do not get me started on that topic.

+1

They were probably the cheapest builders my landlord could find, and took forever to do the work.
I could probably have done it quicker, learning from a book as I went ;)

I tend to agree with this.

But I like redeyedjedi better! ;)
(I know, I'm as irritating as the dust ain't I Luke ) Hope the problem is solved quickly - it must be awful when eyesight is compromised.

I'd much rather be bombarded with puns whilst lost in the middle of Staines than have this problem

As others have said, hoover, hoover, hoover! And do it with the windows open! I would recommend wearing a respirator mask while you hoover as well.

I remember when I renovated my house, I had to prepare an Artex ceiling for skimming --- that involved using an electric sander to take the top few mm off the artex ... can you even begin to imagine the amount of dust???! I looked like the abominable snowman. I had to wear a mask for that or I would have done myself damage.

When we had our extension done my poor Dyson worked like a Trojan! Lots of damp-dusting, but ultimately the vac did most of the work.

I had to treat it to a proper service after it was all over!

Extract fans with extension tubes that can transport the dust to an area that won't be a problem are the answer! I often work in hospitals grinding screed up from the floor. Creating air pressure that draws out of the building will do the trick. People often baulk at the extra expense, until they see the difference! The Landlord/Builder also have a duty of care not to make you suffer with the dust.
