Hi all
I am planning a London to Amsterdam bike ride in October (29th/30th to be exact).
Is there anybody else likely to be on the Dutch leg of the journey at the same time (30th)?
- I am getting the overnight ferry from Harwich not planning on breaking any landspeed records.
- I have been informed that it is also national free ice cream day

I might be on that ferry, but with my car, on my way back to Norway.

You can save the effort of pedalling your bike by buying a Dutch Flyer ticket which will get you from Liverpool Street Station to Amsterdam. £79 for the overnight option.

You can't book a bike on the Dutch flyer deal, according to Seat61.
Plus, it sorta negates the whole 'going for a bike ride' thing!

Oh yes you can. My friend and I did. We let the trains and the ferry take the strain.

From the Stena web site...

We might have had to buy a bicycle ticket in the Netherlands to cover the journey from the ferry terminal to Amsterdam, I can't remember.

Q: Can I take a bicycle with me?

A: There are restrictions of non-folding bikes on peak services for the comfort and safety of all passengers, only folded cycles can be accommodated during busy times. This applies to the following Stratford and London Liverpool Street station services:

These restrictions apply Monday to Friday, except Bank Holidays.

  • AM – any trains arriving at Stratford or Liverpool Street between 0745 and 0945*
  • PM – any trains departing from Stratford or Liverpool Street between 1630 and 1830*

We also took the train from Amsterdam to Prague before pedalling on to Berlin.

Visiting only one Coffee Shop?
Given that some of the goodies on offer have a THC content in excess of 30%, one requires a very special metabolism to go on a Café Crawl:wacko:.

Going by boat adds to the adventure and exoticism of The Netherlands. You really know that you are in foreign parts when few people speak English as badly as we do.
