E bike sale help

My FiL has asked me to sell his Ebike.
He bought it in Spain a few years ago but has only done about 1000 Kms on it.
It is a Head Dayton with a Bafang mid / crank drive. Tektro hydraulic brakes, Deore rear mech, Suntour forks.
Could anyone give me an idea of a reasonable selling price please.

it is up for £400 - probably worth more - maybe 500??

The trouble with ebike used sales is, many people are wary of battery motor issues and will offer very low bids to protect themselves against a future fault. Even if the bike and equipment is in good order.

If you're desperate to offload, just take the next offer. Else keep it and use it

I was also thinking £400-£500. Ask for 5, be prepared to drop to 4.

Its a clean machine and presumably in good order, as we'd expect from an upstanding member of our community. Nevertheless, as Andy rightly points out, an ill informed buying public has an irrational fewer of battery powered vehicles. This means the pool of knowledgeable buyers who'll pay full whack is small.

If it were a larger size I'd have it myself.

It's always difficult to buy a secondhand ebike as the battery pack is a consumable and maybe only delivers 200-1000 full charges before it starts to get end of life. Most battery packs are very expensive to replace unless an open non-proprietary design where you can buy any battery pack you want. I would always go for a very low price as mid-drive motors can be very expensive to repair and the battery pack may need replacing. However that is me, you may find other people willing to pay more which is why I tend to list at the highest possible price and then come down as I need to. Don't do an ebay auction as if its only sold locally you may not have much interest and may only get a very low bid. However if you are happy to accept 400 pounds you could start the listing at that but maybe 400 pounds is all you will get. The listing will need to include all the positives and avoid the negatives. Try to find out the full price of it when sold (even if bought discounted) and definitely mention the torque figure if a high torque figure. Not all mid-drive motors have high torque so if its a weak model 40Nm or less definitely don't mention that, allow the buyer to assume a higher figure. Make sure you take a picture of the battery level on the display showing full charge. I don't know the brand so I'm guessing maybe no support in the UK. Maybe focus more on the Bafang motor brand than the bike brand as Bafang are well regarded and fairly decent for getting spares. Are there any shops anywhere in the UK that will repair and service this brand ebike for their electronic components? Yes the motor is Bafang but some of the other components maybe more proprietary to this brand.

Ultimately its worth whatever anyone is willing to pay for it and finding the right buyer who will pay a decent price. Sometimes the right buyer might take a few weeks or maybe a month or two to find. I've seen stuff on ebay that has been listed locally at a high price for what seems like 2 months and then finally its gone so assume eventually the seller got a sale at this higher price, they had to wait for it though.
