Ok I decided to write a post that may hopefully help others give up smoking using an E-cig and reading migrantwing it made me think maybe people didn't give up because basically the first one they buy is tbh crap so here goes and if there's something you don't get just ask .

Right first things first when most of us buy an E-cig it's one of those crappy evo ones and from experience they don't deliver what you need when giving up which is high nicotine and what they call a throat hit . When I got one I filled the tank 4-5 times a day and used 9 batteries and 8 bottles of 24 mg Virginia each month ,but I set out a goal of how I would give up and so far it's working .

First thing you should do is get a new battery a variable voltage one (£12 to silly money ones)this way your on 24 mg juice and now you can increase the heat which gives you something that resembles a cig , your aim is to start at high voltage and slowly reduce it while smoking 24 mg take your time think months not days ween yourself slowly . Next if your buying 8 bottles get 7 at 24 mg and 1 at 18 mg and when you use the 18 mg raise the voltage back to high this way it is close to 24 on the throat . Keep doing this substituting 24's for 18's until you don't buy 24's no more and repeat lowering voltage and substituting 18mg for 16mg .

now there's a problem with variable voltage batteries and the original juice tank and you may have had to buy a new one or two along the way so in hindsight I'd suggest you go out and buy a vivi nova tank , it's larger and easier to fill ,holds more juice and more importantly the elements are better so don't burn out so easy.

Another problem I had was the wicks on the elements get a brown bit near the element I think it burns eventually and it tastes awful ,when you get that burned taste replace it it's easy on the nova tank .
Theres IMO 3 things you wanted as a smoker 1 is nicotine and we got that covered 2 is muscle memory the need for something in your hand we got this covered too and the last is the taste because as bad as it is we still do it ,so my idea was to slowly change the taste like when I reduced strength so I bought 1 flavoured one of the same strength and cut it into the Virginia now and then I found apple to be the most pleasing taste .

Right now to the bit I probably should have put at the start
An E-cig is not a real one so don't try to smoke it like one for a start when you smoked a real one you inhaled the smoke and it was delivered down into your lungs and E-cig can't do this for 1 it's vapour not smoke so it disperses in seconds and the nicotine contained in the vapour is absorbed into your cheeks . The second things is how you smoke it ,if you smoke it like you would a cig taking I think 15 drags etc tugging on it hard you'll get a sore throat ,instead firstly do a pre burn which means press the button for 3 seconds stop and repeat then take light and steady draws for about 6-8 seconds hold it and release .Do this for about 12 minutes and then put it away until you want another cig ,but seriously at least try to go an hour or longer .
I'll be honest when you first get it you vape constantly and that's ok you eventually do the above ,but if you do 1 thing take steady draws even when vaping constantly
Right for now that's it and hopefully I've explained myself ok ,but please if you have any questions feel free I'm 218 days in and I've never wanted a cig at all , also if there's anything you did that you think may help me or others please say

I wanted to add I now buy 8 bottles of 12 mg juice every 6-8 week so they last twice as long now showing I've reduced my consumption

I tried all the available ways of giving up with no success as they were all made up of ways to cut down, i would convinced myself i was cutting down and twisted the truth to suit, in the end it was the decision to give up for the wife and my daughter that made me sit on the doorstep smoke my last fag in the packet and never touch another one, that was nine years ago.

Wish I could have done it that way bud ,but I just couldn't . This way is working for me and I know it is because I've still got a packet of tobacco in a drawer . My decision was to not smoke today and so far I've not smoked today for 218 of em I think so long as the end result is not smoking it's all good don't you think so too

I quit seven years ago by weaning myself gradually off them rather than going cold turkey or using any kind of substitute. Went from 20+ a day to 20 to 10 to 5, and then 2 one day, 2 the following and the next day got ready for my final cigarette ever. Waited til I was home alone, went out into the garden to enjoy. Got half way through it before I wanted to vomit, promptly stubbed it and out and have never wanted one since. In fact, just the smell on someone else's clothes can make me gag if they've just smoked a cigarette.
