But I quit!

But I quit!
Have you ever been tempted?But I quit!![]()
@welsh dragon , same question.
No, and I put that down to the way I quit. The weaning process meant that my body stopped seeing the nicotine as a necessity and began to recognise the lot as toxins, hence feeling so ill when I smoked my last. I lived for a year (quite a while after I quit) with a smoker and never once felt the need to join in when she lit up. Never considered the ex vs non angle before though. Ex is fact: non implies "never, ever".Have you ever been tempted?
I have never waivered, and i hope i never will, but i consider myself an ex smoker who could easily fall back into the habit, rather than a non smoker.
Because of the number of decades that I smoked, I will always consider myself an addict and as such, I believe that if I am not careful and ever vigilant
I could very easily be tempted to start again. So I stay well away from temptation.
Same here.
20 a day (more than that at times) for 30 years and i did used to enjoy a smoke.
Ive been offered a cigar, but even thats a no-no as i dont want to even go ever so slightly down the smokers route again.
Ex smokers have told me that a lot of the problem is habit, you get up, you go outside for a smoke then you get on with the day, getting past that hurdle is a breakthrough and so breaking the habit is a very positive step forward.
That's exactly how the medical profession see us as well. When I had my medical last year for my HGV licence the nurse asked me if I smoked. Not me I said, I stopped years ago, I'm a non-smoker now. No your not said she, if you've smoked you are always an ex-smoker, you cannot and never will be an non-smoker. Jeez, that was me toldI consider myself an ex smoker who could easily fall back into the habit, rather than a non smoker.
