Is it serotonin?Anyone who didn't know different could even guess a linguistic connection with a well known hormone associated with being female.

That's generally not a rabbit hole I like to go down. Finding the origins of "hysteria" did not make me happy.Anyone who didn't know different could even guess a linguistic connection with a well known hormone associated with being female.

Hey ho, it all comes from the Greek, no escaping it linguisticallySo, I just checked oxford. From the same source, oestrus comes from Late 17th century: from Greek oistros 'gadfly or frenzy'. Depressing, again.

Cheeky beggars! Orthodox Easter is not usually the same date as western Easter, and google tells me it's not until first of May, so they must be in Lent at the moment, and shouldn't be eating chocolates.I am fortunate enough to be able to scoff 2 lots of chocolate: one today, another when celebrating Greek Easter with my Cypriot and Greek pals![]()
....I expect many of you will be scoffing these this weekend, overdosing on chocolate, and a grand tradition for sure. Last year I arrived back in the UK a few days after Easter, and was looking forward to picking up a bargain egg or three at the local supermarket, but alas none to be found. Several shops later - still no joy.
This long-held misers chocfest must now be a thing of the past, I can only assume.
This year I'll be over there mid April, and my mum has already been tasked with having one waiting at the house on my arrival........![]()
