:biggrin:xx( Bear with me, i'm going stir crazy here, this is as much entertainment as i'm likely to get for a week

Watcha having / had for dinner ? Here's my typical meal in Kafr El Zaiat (somewhere between Cairo and Alexandria)
Stuffed pigeon...

I'll happily eat pigeon, but not cold, and stuffed with gawld only knows what !!!!
Even the fact it's still got head and wings doesn't bother me...just couldnt face it with a slightly squiffy stomach. Ive eaten songbirds with heads and legs in Cyprus, but this was a step too far.

Also...a bowl of ???? Couldnt even bring myself to try it

Just to put it in perspective, here's a nicer shot Kafr El Zaiat, and believe me, it's flattering
Picture012-2.jpg

Stomach's a bit better this evening...they rustled me up some chips... it was heaven. Shame the omelette was runny...probably the same runny eggs i had last night that has upset my stomach a bit.

Should have guts like iron after this trip

Please please remind me what normal food is like ....

I think the middle pic is foul, a bean stew. That pigeon looks like a haggis, doesn't it? You don't travel with some Lomotil and Ciproflaxacin?

Hasn't the FCL arrived yet?

Another issue....fcuk me, isn't it expensive to ring Egypt if your'e on the wrong tariff. Spoke to SWMBO last night on my mobile for about 1/2 hour....£50 plus :ohmy::ohmy:
Thank christ the company will pay the bill. I gather (now) Egypt is one of the most expensive places on earth to call and call from.

I had a local sim with 100 egyptian pounds on...about £10 give or take, it lasted about 10 minutes :biggrin: I'm using the factory landline now, i'm likely to bankrupt myself like this.

Bless them, they were quite concerned i had a problem with the food. I'd already told them i'll eat what they eat...but everyone has their limits

On the menu tonight is bangers and mash with cabbage

Followed by Christmas pudding and custard

The stew looks nice, but not sure if I could eat something that's looking at me...

You need to use one of the discount telephone companies. I used to use Telediscount and they would do calls to a mobile in Egypt for 10p/min. There are others in this list from 3p/min!

I lived in egypt for a while and I know what the local food can be like, you just need to be a resident for at least 2-3 months before you can stomach eating anywhere other than a touristy hoteA!

although you could eat like a king in a local restaurant (usually with a couple of rats for company) for around 50p ish. But your right about the cost of calls, I had to break up with my girlfriend as it was costing me to much to have her calling me on my mobile from the UK.
