I wanted to bid on an almost new XTR front MTB derailleur that was ending at 8:16 on Saturday but we were at a family wedding. I suppose I could have taken the laptop and used the hotel wi-fi but I wasn't well enough organised. So with about 5 minutes to spare I thought I'd try it through the Crackberry - nothing to lose! Amazingly eveything worked, I got logged on and I was able to bid although there had already been about 7 bids so I wasn't too optimistic. Got my bid in with 58 seconds to spare, unbearable tension thanks to the slow connection but I WON! Turns out the previous bid was at about 4:30 so the other bidders were probably out on the lash, so I got an almost new XTR derailleur for £11.70 to replace my worn out one. What did I learn? If selling on Ebay never time toys for boys to end on a Saturday evening!

What a bargain

It's always worth keeping an eye on items that end at silly times, you can get them cheap, if you remember them ;)

Ebaying on the phone is very handy! I bought a set of all-mountain forks on holiday in the Peak District from our caravan using my iphone

OT, but where did you stay in the end, Panter?

We stayed on a very small site not far from Tintwhistle (hope I got that name right) on the Pennine way.

It was a lovely area, and we had a couple of long, very scenic walks but had to give up after a few days as the weather spoiled it and we continued our holiday in the New Forest!

We'll return next Year sometime and hopefully have better luck with the weather.

Were you at Crowden then? Bloody lovely up there, when the weathers nice

That's the place

I just couldn't remember what it was called and it was easier to reference to the nearest town rather than face up to my rapidly impending senility
