Hi All

Can anyone advise or recommend
As someone who has moderate COPD ( inhalers)
Can anyone recommend a decent ebike for long term touring , Europe and Africa , ie for use on hills etc
I have a normal touring bike a Trek 920...I am also interested if that could be converted...have looked at Skarper...but not too sure if that would be good enough
Thanks

Find a bike shop that specialises in ebike conversions and discuss with them.
I prefer a mid motor because it makes wheel removal easy when you have a puncture.
Not sure how you will go with a large battery on aircraft, ferries, trains etc.
You might struggle to find charging points in some remote areas.

Ebike touring will come down to range and the ability to transport the bike on ferries, buses and trains.
Public transport often has restrictions on ebikes.
If you anticipate using the motor all the time this will limit your range, alternatively if you're keeping the motor for when you need it you are carrying additional weight.
Much as I love my ebike you might find the technology either doesn't work for you or you have to manage your expectations regarding mixed travel and daily mileages.

The big hurdle will be 45 odd different countries in Africa with 45 different rules. Some permit ebikes, but with different specs to our EAPC rules, and all with different specs from state to state, and sk e regard them as motor vehicles.

Before going any futher id be inclined to write a list of every country you plan to visit and write a list of the legal ebike specs for those countries, if permitted at all. You likely wont find a bike that'll be legal in every single country.

Yep thanks , was intending to do that , write down countries that specifically don't allow ebikes....thats why I was looking at Skarper , see if that could be applied , thanks for all the replies so far as well
