To my eternal shame, I've never noticed Willi, but I've always had a bit of a taste for Hungarocamion. Soft-sided and unarticulated, and hauling a massive trailer. They convey a great air of mystery.

Yorkie Bar anyone?

No thanks, I've been boycotting them since they started the 'Not for Girls' stuff. If they want to rule out 50% of the population as customers, I'm happy to let them. Anyway, they weren't the same after they stopped being jawbreaking.

Interesting, the Hungarocamion - camion is the French for lorry, too.

I'm a Norbert Dentressangle man. Sad news though.
moi aussi. 56? Blimey!

Eddie Stobart achieved something quite remarkable. He made a trucking operation the object of affection, and he did it very simply, by branding the trucks. That's really clever.

His vehicles' attractiveness ranked alongside Charles Alexanders' during the obsessive collect and record everything everything phase of my life.

Only 56 year old too.

I must say I felt really sad at the news today. Not quite sure why, perhaps in a short time Eddie Stobart lorries have become part of Britain.
The pedant in me wants to point out firstly that it was "Edward Stobart" who died today (his father was Eddie) and that the firm has been around for around 60 years, although the haulage side was formed around 40 years ago.

So it's you who's going around the shops breaking them all.

I think you can write to the Stobart company and ask if they would consider naming one of their trucks. I have read of people writing in with stories that tug at the heart strings getting their wish. Not always the case it would seem but I think Stobarts welcome requests, and any interest in their lorries.

Have you seen any of the Stevens fleet hauling fish south Arch?

I was a big fan of the Charles Alexander fleet of fish carriers. I lived on the road that was used as a stop over point for trucks heading back to Aberdeen. I've just caught up with the history of the company and sadly it no longer exists having fallen victim to declining fish stocks.

Sad loss, RIP Eddie. Way too young to go.

Well I never. I have a new thing to look for.

Here's another for your list, Arch, a bit more personalised.

I do like their heavy haulage side.
