Pro rider brands don't seem to do that well.
Boardman has done OK, but Hoy and Pendleton have not.
I just bought a 2012 Moser Speed frameset (Wiggle Brand) for £20. It's a nice alloy frame, just as light as a Spesh Allez or Giant Defy

I'm hoping that most UK road racing cyclists will have heard of Eddy Merckx, what ever their age, he's one of the greatest cyclists ever, if not the greatest................
"During his career from 1965 to 1978, the Belgian won 525 races. He is still the joint record holder for the number of Tour de France overall victories (five). He has undisputedly won the most Tour de France stages (34), the most Grand Tours (11) and the most Grand Tour stages (64).
He has won the most Monuments (19) including seven victories at Milan-San Remo. He broke the Hour Record. He was the first rider to achieve the Triple Crown of Cycling — victory in the Tour, Giro d’Italia and World Championships in one season — and only one other rider, Stephen Roche, has done so since.
In 1971 Merckx won 45 per cent of the races he started. Come up against Merckx during that season and your chances of victory as a rival rider were as good as halved before you’d even begun.

Most on here aren't road racing cyclists even if we happen to ride road bikes. I have virtually no interest personally in pro cycling past or present. I've heard the name, beyond that nadaI'm hoping that most UK road racing cyclists will have heard of Eddy Merckx, what ever their age, he's one of the greatest cyclists ever, if not the greatest................

Yes, and it was impressively far-sighted of him to set up the company just before he was born, at which point it was impossible to predict whether or not he would actually make it as a pro.

Alcide Basso, whose brother was a pro cyclist iirc, but not that one. It’s a funny coincidence that the company was founded in 1977, the same year Ivan Basso was born.
Hasn’t realised that they had been sold again. This explains everything.
As above, I would rather have a Ridley too...oh wait.
