Edinburgh to Musselburgh

I m rather new to cycling... m planning to do edinburgh- Musselburgh tomorrow morning..
Are there any safe places where i can park the bike and go around for a walk n all?

And in general, how do i find safe places to park my bike in a new town?

PS: Pls join me if u feel like..will start at about 7 in the morning from edinburgh city centre..

if you are using the promenade that goes through portobello as part of your route, there are plenty of benches to to lock the bike to and paths/beaches to walk on…

Coming to think of it there must be but I've never locked my bike up in Musselburgh, there might be something formal in the Quayside or there's always the fence along the Promenade.
