I was unfortunate enough to have on of these as a hire car the last few days.
It's just wrong in every way. The 'look' - Tank arrogance for school-run mums, aided by poor visibility, nasty handling, nasty seating and interior, revvy engine (actually, the engine bit is quite good but in the wrong vehicle), thirsty, and sitting on uneccesssary big fat tyres that make a lot of road noise. Neither fish nor fowl but mostly foul.

A pox on such 'cross-over' designs.

It is indeed a truly horrid vehicle aimed squarely at the single digit IQ buyer. They'll probably sell well for Mums on the runs.

"nasty handling, nasty seating and interior"

And that has been the case with every Nissan I have driven (hire cars I hasten to add as I would never own one).

The handling can be quite scary too with breaking efficiency greatly reduced after the front end has gone up over a bump and a strange oscillating effect on undulating roads that meant I couldn't go faster than 40.

Had a K11 and K12 Micra (Square one and Bubble) both brilliant, and currently have the latest Primera - fantastic car, been trouble free in 6 years.

PS the Quashy is selling like hot cakes, but yup it's ugly and is something of a compromise in what ever it's supposed to be doing.

We've been saddled with a fleet of Navaras for fieldwork. Everyone hates 'em.

To begin with they liked them because they accelerate quite briskly and tow well (at least in a straight line). Then the saggy, unsupportive seats, tin-can bodywork and absolutely appalling turning circle begin to spoil the experience. Then you begin to realise that the low seat makes seeing out and manouvring difficult... And after three years they rapidly fall apart.

We'll be buying Hiluxes next chance we get.

I've never really liked Nissans of any type. The original Primera wasn't bad I suppose and the final model Sunny GTI was pretty good to drive. Otherwise, all horrible.

Just to calm you down whilst driving it, take a look at the recall notices

Drove a Nissan Note a few months back that I hired from Enterprise - wierd car, would never buy one, but it wasn't bad to drive and infinitely more pleasant than the Vauxhall Astras/Vectra I'd been subjected to by Enterprise previously.

how come no one ever goes for landrovers they always go straight for hiluxes?

we had a hilux at a place i used to work, every 3 years it went for a full transmision re-build and the bodywork straightening and we'd get a hire hilux that we werent' allowed to do anything that might scratch it

when your towing boats in and out of a lake and maintaining a country park its quite hard - the boss just let us use his defender 110 pickup which was older than the work hilux and just kept on going.

I love the look of this car and I am seriously considering getting one.
Can someone please reinflate my bubble.
